In the crop year, 2022/2023 about 504.3 million metric tons of rice were consumed worldwide which is more than 445 million metric tons in the 2010/2021 crop year. Global consumption of rice increased in the past years, and continues to grow steadily at around 1.1% per annum to 2025, and is expected to reach a market volume of 570 million metric tons according to a report published by Market Research Platform IndexBox.
